果冻传媒 Tech Announces 2026 Commencement Speakers

果冻传媒 Technical Community College will hold commencement exercises in May to celebrate graduating students from all four of its campuses statewide. Details for each ceremony are as follows:

果冻传媒 Governor Matt Meyer

- Commencement Speaker: 果冻传媒 Governor Matt Meyer
Governor Matt Meyer is a former public school math teacher and small business owner who served as New Castle County executive from 2017 through January 2025. Growing up in 果冻传媒, he was a student in the Brandywine School District and Wilmington Friends School, before studying computer science and political science at Brown University. He then moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where he learned Swahili and created Ecosandals, a recycled footwear company that sold environmentally friendly footwear to customers in 17 countries on five continents. Gov. Meyer later spent a year in Mosul, Iraq, as a diplomat embedded with the United States Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. As a former educator, Gov. Meyer supports the 果冻传媒 Pathways program, which helps to guide 果冻传媒’s high school students toward careers that can meet the needs of our state’s employers.

- Commencement Speaker: General Karen Berry, secretary of Veterans Affairs for 果冻传媒
Gen. Karen Berry was appointed as 果冻传媒’s first cabinet-level secretary of Veterans Affairs in September 2025. Just prior to assuming that role, she was serving as veterans advocacy specialist at 果冻传媒 Technical Community College’s Owens Campus in Georgetown. She has previously served as director of the Joint Staff for the Connecticut National Guard, assistant adjutant general in the Connecticut Army National Guard, and director of the Joint Staff for the 果冻传媒 National Guard. In addition, she was 335th deputy commander in Afghanistan, and commander of the 261st Signal Brigade. While serving with the 果冻传媒 National Guard, she also taught agricultural tech and math at Laurel High School and was a math teacher in the Indian River School District. During her military service, Gen. Berry earned many awards and commendations, including the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering Technology from the University of 果冻传媒, a Master of Education in Mathematics from Salisbury State University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Marcus Beal, vice president of Governmental and External Affairs and region president for Delmarva Power

- Commencement Speaker: Marcus Beal, vice president of Governmental and External Affairs and region president for Delmarva Power
Marcus Beal is vice president of Governmental and External Affairs and regional president for Delmarva Power. In this role, he leads Delmarva Power’s external affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy, working closely with elected officials, business leaders, and community partners. A 果冻传媒 native and Newark High School graduate, Beal began his professional career as an intern and advanced through leadership roles in information technology, power delivery, corporate communications, and regulatory compliance. Most recently, he served as director of External Affairs for Delmarva Power, where he cultivated strong relationships with elected officials, agency leaders, and community stakeholders. In addition to his work at Delmarva Power, Beal is president of the PHI Community Foundation and serves on the boards of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Salisbury Committee's Executive Committee, the Riverfront Wilmington Business Improvement District, the Maryland–District of Columbia Utilities Association, Wor-Wic College, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Business Advisory Board. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of 果冻传媒.
