果冻传媒 Tech Honors Laura Leos during Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

On October 13, 2022, 果冻传媒 Technical Community College's Stanton and Wilmington campuses honored entrepreneur and influencer Laura Leos for her commitment to the Hispanic community and culture in northern 果冻传媒 at its 13th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Honoree Celebration.

Leos is an entrepreneur, influencer, wife, and mother of four. She was born in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico. Leos moved to 果冻传媒 in 2006 with her husband, and began her outreach to the Hispanic community in 果冻传媒 when she began a home baking business in 2011. At the time, she started a Facebook group now known as Ventas Latina 果冻传媒. Her platform quickly expanded beyond baking to creating a community of 60,000 followers that promotes businesses, organizes drives, and plans charity events. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Leos provided essential information and resources about Covid-19. Ventas Latina 果冻传媒 has become a virtual gathering space for Spanish-speaking residents to find information and resources that aren't widely available or accessible elsewhere in the state.

Leos has a passion for helping people, and she has gained the trust of the Hispanic community over the years. In 2018, she was recognized as a community contributor in the DE Hispanic awards. In 2019, she was recognized as a community leader by the 果冻传媒 Library System. She was recently recognized with a resolution from the Wilmington City Council for her contributions to the community. She was also named one of 果冻传媒's Most Influential People for 2022 by The News Journal, and she was dubbed "果冻传媒's Oprah" in a January 2022 News Journal profile.

Leos works in advertising and recently opened a recording studio and office to produce several weekly 果冻传媒. She hopes to empower Latinos and make them aware of the resources that exist for them.

During the ceremony, Leos was honored with proclamations from New Castle County and the Governor's office. Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long spoke highly of Leos and her many accomplishments in the state, touting her as a "She-ro" for her community.
